Herunder ses den omtale resolution: Resolution on the Israeli – Palestinian situation

A peaceful and long-lasting solution in the Middle East must include two independent states, and both parties in the conflict must recognize each others right to exist. UNR supports an independent Palestinian state within the borders from 1967. UNR therefore condemns all use of violence or terror against civilians from either side. But UNR recognizes that Israel as the strongest part in the conflict and as the occupant, has the main responsibility for facilitating peace. There will not be a just peace in the region as long as Israel is ignoring UN resolutions, international law and the human rights.

The international society must have a joint policy that pressures Israel to follow human rights and make real attempts to find a peaceful solution. UNR urge the leaders of the Nordic countries to make common initiative for a strong international demand for ending the occupation. UNR believes that economic sanctions against the state of Israel is a legitimate tool in order to end the occupation, and calls for joint international sanctions towards Israel when violating UN resolutions, international law and the human rights.

A peaceful solution is also dependent on the parties on the Palestinian side. The fighting between Fatah and Hamas is destroying the hope for an independent Palestinian state in the future. The parties must accept the democratic elections, and put political disagreements aside and work together. At the same time the international society must accept the last election victory of Hamas and include them in peace negotiations. UNR urges all the Nordic countries to accept Hamas as a partner in dialog towards a peaceful solution.

UNR thinks it is crucial that the Palestinian Authority is given the necessary means to create and maintain stability and order inside the Palestinian territories. Therefore the international boycott of the PA must end.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza is grave. As a result of the Israeli blockade the Palestinian people are suffering from lack of food, medicine and electricity which create more frustration and thus more extreme actions from Palestinian extremists in Gaza. UNR therefore calls for a joint Nordic demand for ending the blockade of the European Union, international community and Israel and to contribute with humanitarian aid.

The state of Israel is constantly changing the facts on the ground to gain control over the West Bank. UNR regards this as an obstacle towards a two-state solution. We therefore demand the stop of planning and building of all new settlements and withdrawal from the illegal settlements that has already been built. The apartheid-wall in the West Bank must be removed. Palestinians must be granted the basic human right of free movement, and the roadblocks and checkpoints must be removed.

Peace cannot be reached by military means. As young social democrats we recognize that democracy is the way to peace. UNR can therefore never accept that people are being imprisoned for their political opinions or believe. The Israeli use of administrative detention towards political activist must therefore stop and all political prisoners must be set free or given a fair trial.

Also the attacks on Israeli citizens need to end. The Israeli and Palestinian government organisations have a responsibility to uphold the rule of law and stop all attacks on non-military targets.

UNR support the Palestinian peoples fight against occupation and for a free Palestine. There will not be peace until the Palestinian people is granted their freedom, safety and right to self-government.
